Has anyone noticed the similarities between the native American Indian and Hawaiian cultures? I don't recall seeing the topic before. There seem to be many parallels.

No I was thinking more of the being one with the land and nature. Trying to live in harmony with the things of the earth and more of the spiritual aspects.

Yes there are alot of Traditional Cultural Values between Native Americans Indians and Native Hawai'ians. For example,

1) Cooperation
2) Group Emphasis
3) Generosity or Aloha spirit
4) Non-Materialism
5) Work To Meet Need
6) Passivity
7) Time-Always With Us
8) Orientation To Present
9) Cooperation w/ Nature
10) Religion- Way of life
11) Indirect Criticism
12) Extended Family
13) Cultural Pluralist
14) Belief In The Unseen
15) Respect For Tradition
16) Respect For Age

Just to name a few OP, Im impressed with you OP.

OT: Its believed now that ancient hawaiians traveled to turtle island(america) and ended up mingling with native american tribes.

There are also tons of similarities in the spiritual beliefs too.

That doesn't really seem any different any other group from my perspective.

One must not forget Native Hawaiians were highly destructive to the land they they happened to stumble upon with their canoes. Animals went extinct, land burned, water diverted, forests cleared, etc.

Change "any other group" to "any other indigenous group" and I'll agree.

The primary thing that Native Hawaiians and American Indians have in common is that they both had lands that ended up in the hands of the United States. There are over 560 American Indian tribes that are officially recognized by the United States government. And, many of these tribes have different languages, customs, cultures, and belief systems. As a Native Hawaiian, I feel more kinship with other Pacific Islanders (i.e. Polynesians, Micronesians, and Melanesians), Australian aborigines, Okinawans, and other indigenous peoples from Asia and Southeast Asia, than I do with most American Indians.

indigenous |inˈdijənəs|
adjective
originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native.

Are Hawaiians considered to be an indigenous group since they didn't originally come from the Hawaiian islands? In fact, those that call themselves native Hawaiian today aren't really even the ancestors of the first people to arrive on the islands, are they? If native Hawaiians are considered to be a indigenous people of Hawaii, then wouldn't anyone who was born in Hawaii, no matter where their ancestors came from, then be considered indigenous to Hawaii?

Look at the second portion of the definition for "indigenous" that you provided that says "native."

Most anthropologists believe that all homo sapiens originally came from Africa; however, everyone doesn't consider themselves to be "African." Modern-day Native Hawaiians are the direct descendants of the first humans to occupy the islands; hence, they get to be considered "indigenous."

You might want to rephrase the question. One can't be the "ancestor" of previous generations and the "in fact" is unnecessary. Many lawyers like to use "in fact" (and "as a matter of fact") when they're trying to misrepresent the actual facts.

Nope. If none of their ancestors arrived before the "cut-off" date (i.e. January 18, 1778), they can't be considered "indigenous" to Hawaiʻi, despite being born here. So, we refer to those folks whose ancestors weren't here prior to the "cut-off" date as "kamaʻāina" (native-born), "Hawaiʻi locals," "Hawaiʻi residents," "settlers," etc. Simply being born in the islands doesn't make one a "Hawaiian."
