Thanks terracore.. great idea. I was planning to get an 808 phone number the day we land on the island, but I'll follow your advice and see if I can get one of those Tracfones at Walmart now. Maybe that will help since I have yet to receive any feedback from the several emails & messages left about short term rentals other than VRBO.

I don't know if you can still do it, but in the past I have bought a Track phone and got an area code in another state that I wanted it n without being there.

Was able to negotiate a reasonable month-to-month rent on a "Home to go" property in HPP. So at least I now have a destination when I arrive. If it turns out I don't like it, I'll give my notice and spend that time looking at other properties. So far with this move, things are coming along nicely!
