After a relatively mild november, December was not as friendly since many cold days and nights came to the area. I suffered a head-cold from the 1st thorugh 7th of the month and it was brutal having to deal with the coldness and the freezing mist.

Most of the rain fell on the 1st of the month, but other rain events were fairly frequent throughout December 2009. Like the November 2009 weather systems, December's were fast paced causing only moderate rainfall amounts to fall. I gauged...

November 2009 Follow-Up

Posted 01-06-2010 at 05:50 PM by Adam DeSilvester

This month was another month of more rainfall and cooler temperatures. San Antonio garnered 2.09'' of rain which is just short of the 2.58'' average and the average monthly temperature was only .7 degrees F above normal. The coolest november we had since 2002.

What had caused the rainfall to drop from the extereme levels in September and October was that the November weather systems were fast paced and there was more high pressure, which caused many sunny days to appear during the...

October 2009 Follow Up

Posted 11-02-2009 at 07:09 PM by Adam DeSilvester

The incredible amount of rain that fell in September only continued and intesified in October 2009. This month started out with cloudy and wet days for the first half of the month. By the second half of the month, we still had inches of rain but we are able to see some perfectly clear skies a few days. Because we had so many fast moving cold fronts through our area this month, October 2009 ended .8 degrees F cooler than normal, the first cool October since 2003. Also, these fronts matched up with...

Posted 10-02-2009 at 07:41 AM by Adam DeSilvester

EL NINO TO THE RESCUE!

We finally had a month with not just above normal rainfall, but much above!!! With 6.35 inches, that is more than double the average rainfall of 3.00 for September. In the whole month, there were 11 days with registered rainfall. Most of this rain fell around the 10th associated with the first major cool front of the year. Then the rest fell on around the 23rd.

The month was also cooler than normal by 1.0 degrees F! This is the largest negative...

August 2009 Follow Up

Posted 10-02-2009 at 07:36 AM by Adam DeSilvester

Sorry for the delay everyone, I've gone back to school in August and havent had much time.

Basically, August 2009 followed June and July in XTREME heat and tied August 2006 for the warmest August and 2nd warmest month after July 2009.

Rainfall was low again, matching June 2009's total with .45 inches.

Thats all, another boring month...
