Although the CTS-V is also a great car, I'll take the M5 every time if price wasn't an issue.
So would pretty much everyone, given the half again price of the M5. If the CTS-V cost as much as the M5, it would be a much better car than it already is. ~$30K, or half again the CTS-V price, could buy a lot of improvement.

The 6 series is a coupe. Or are you saying there won't be a 5 series coupe, which currently the 6 series basically is?

Let me clarify, all I've seen is the convertible edition. I haven't seen any hardtop coupes for the 6 series.
Older model 6 series was indeed available in both Coupe and Convertible.
The new 2011/12 model is currently only available as a cabriolet, but the coupe will be available later this year or early next year.
In addition there will be a 4 door "coupe" 6 series as well.
Ok. Thanks. I was talking about the new 2011/12 model. All I've seen from dealers and online was the convertible. Nice to know they are still going to have a coupe.

Isn't this basically what that goofy 5-series GT is? Or are they going to do a 6-series version as well? Or replace the 5-series GT with the 6-series 4-door coupe? Something more along the lines of the Audi A7 maybe?

The 6 series has a "gran coupe" which is basically like the Mercedes CLS, not the Audi hatchback thing.
Basically a chop top 5 series sedan, not a real "coupe."

Merc63 beat me to the post, but yes, the two first pictures are of the projected 6 series 4 door coupe.
This is a market segment where Mercedes for instance, have been doing exceptionally well and BMW wants in on it. the term 4 door coupe essentially describes a sedan with the lower more swooping lines of a coupe, think Aston Marting Rapide etc.
I posted a thread about this new BMW 6 a while ago, when it was revealed as a concept, they have later decided to put it into production, most likely very similar looking to the Concept, which was as close to a production ready car as concepts ever have been.
You can read more here though it's fair to mention the thread is over a year old, and things have happened since then.

Huh. As a 4-door car this really seems to be splitting hairs between the 5-series, particularly the GT, and the 7-series. Though not as ugly as the GT.
I wonder if the GT has been selling at all. I personally have never seen one.
