Can't find the article right now. They're trying an electric turbo and a traditional turbo on the same car. The electric turbo kicks in first like a super charger until the other turbo starts to come up. It'll use juice from the battery for the few seconds to overcome the traditional turbo lag. What do you think? Sounds nice until the computer control system malfunctions.
I thought turbo lag was all but gone in modern cars. I have a buddy with a Turbo Porsche, and when he stomps the gas, it's damn near instant hard acceleration.
Interesting idea, if it is more effective than a variable turbo.
Or maybe the benefit is also that you can run a larger traditional turbo for more boost, while limiting or eliminating lag.
