I plan on visiting during both winter and summer to get a feel for the seasons.
If I thought I could swing it I'd move to Seattle in a heartbeat. Go now, log off and move. Amazing city and unlike Reno, there are a ton of things to do.

Unfortunately do to the current economy I am stuck living in Reno for the time being.
I have visited Boise and Boise is by far a nicer place. Reno is a very dirty city, cops are more interested in giving you tickets here than actually catching criminals and the politicians are not any better

The crime rate here is not just do to the economy you can look further back and see that for the amount of people that live here the crime rate is quite high. I also believe that this being a tourist town they don't really want to admit how bad the crime really is.

The few times I have been in Boise I have encountered very friendly people, not so much in Reno.

Needless to say I would choose Boise over Reno any day!

Two former longtime residents of Carson City relocated to a rural part of
Mountain Home a couple of years ago. They simply got fed-up with the
congestion, growing population (mostly from California), property taxes
and crime.

Just to put it into perspective, the Carson City that they fell in love with 25+
years ago isn't the same now as it was then. Mountain Home, to them, is like
Carson City back in the '80s.

Am just relaying what they told me. Am sure Carson City might seem to be a
slice of heaven to you compared to SoCal. Reno/Sparks doesn't do anything
for me.
