Book that changed my life: Living on the ragged edge by Charles Swindoll
Anything by Kathleen Woodiwiss--Shanna was the first book I read by her. It was 700 pages and I read it in two days.
The Count of Monte Christo is my favorite classic
I like historical novels like "The Black Swan" by Robert Taylor (may have the authors name wrong, this is from memory)
The Victory Holt book about the French Revolution made me understand the revolution. If I remember it right, it was "The Devil on Horseback."
I also like books that make you think, sometimes in a different way. "Street Lawyer" by John Grisham did that for me.
Narnia series when I was pre-teen. Still love and read them occasionally. I still have my 70's paperbacks, a more recent paperback set and a hardback set, lol.
As a teen I got into Heinlein. Anything by him. I have almost all of his books. I try getting older paperback and older hardbacks.
So many good books have been mentioned. "A Wrinkle in Time" has always been a favorite as well as almost any book on folktales and mythology. I still read " A Wrinkle in TIme" every couple of years.
I have read "Pride and Prejudice" many times and still love it. I also love many of the spin offs that have come out especially ther Mr Darcy series.
To me a good book is one you can read again and again. So , I have to mention my favorite authors Jayne Ann Krentz(Jayne Castle,Amanda Quick) and Christine Feehan. I have all of their books and always read them again when I can't find anything to suit me at the time.
For Scifi I love Wen Spencer the Ukiah Oregon series and the 2 Tinker books.
So many books, so little time!
Well, for me, the book I love the most is by far "Where the Red Fern Grows". Parents, for all of you with children around 8 years old, you really need to read this book to them at bedtime (chapter a night or something) or have them read it themselves. I will give two slight disclaimers:
1. You will be begged for a dog when your kids read this book. I guarantee it.
2. If you read it to them, you will cry. Heck, I'm a 25 year old tough guy but the thought of Big Dan and Little Anne still gets me choked up.
Hmm..well...Chronologically the books that are my all time favs are:
Green eggs and ham! Probably the best book ever written!! lol
The Sherlock Holmes series
Anything and everything by Poe
The Stand...and anything by King
There are so many favorites that I've read over and over. Here are just a few...
Little Women (Alcott), The Journals of Lewis and Clark (DeVoto), A Knight in Shining Armor (Jude Deveraux), Gone With The Wind (Mitchell), A Wrinkle in Time (L'Engle), Interview With The Vampire (Rice), The Mists of Avalon (Zimmer Bradley), Frenchmen, Desier Good Children and Other Streets of New Orleans (Chase), All Creatures Great and Small (Herriot)...
Two that I read over and over again and always find something new: "The Stand" and "The Thorn Birds".
