As I posted in the other thread, I am almost done with the novels. (the compendiums were too huge to hold and read comfortably!) They took me by surprise at how good they were. I also really liked some of the storyline choices they made and wished the show picked up on some of it.
But at the same time, the novels were so drastic in their killing off the characters and hope the TV show doesn't follow suit as this is the season where a major hit comes if they are loosely based on the books.
What do you think? Did you like the show better than the books? Vice versa? Which plots/characters did you wish they did in the show?
I am reading the first comic tonight which I am excited for and then I am also reading
Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor which is pretty good, its interesting to read what he was upto
while we were watching the others on the tv show
I actually see them separate. I love them both. I had watched all the seasons till now and then just this week picked up the first compendium. I finished the last novel today.
I do wish the tv went in some of the direction that the book took. So I do like the stories in the comics just a tad more.

^^ Ditto on what she said.
The compendiums are heavy but worth the effort of lifting and holding them. There are differences in the storylines between the book and the show and both are interesting. Those differences are not massive.
I like both. Honestly, with a few exceptions, I prefer the TV show. The writing is tighter. The governor in the comics was more than a little over the top. The one character I do like much better in the comics was Andrea. I liked the actress playing her a lot, but she spent all of seasons 1 and 2 whining and complaining. I liked her in season 3. But in the comics, she's a great character.
The TV series would not be as good without Daryl. I love Daryl and was scared to death of him from the beginning but I am no longer scared of him. What scares me now is that they might kill him off.
The Rise of the Governor is a very enlightening book. I'm glad I read it. We don't learn his detailed history on the show but we do in the book.
I tried reading them when the television series aired a few years ago. I found them boring and juvenile. I find it hard to believe grown men actually read them.

So what you're trying to tell us that only women read them or that yourself are under the age of 18?
