I used to read a lot of non-fiction, but I came to the conclusion that I was spending a week learning what I could pick in a few minutes from a summary, or in some cases, just by reading the dust jacket. A few non-fiction writers are gifted at the craft of writing, and can be read for entertainment value, but not many.

I never read a novel for the story, but for the technique of the writer in presenting it.

Fiction most of the time. Nonfiction if its serial killers or unsolved murders.

I read mostly nonfiction, because I like to learn new things. I do, however, love the fiction work of Joshilyn Jackson. My most favorite of hers being The Girl Who Stopped Swimming.

Both... I can fantasize about being somewhere else or in a different time just as easily with both. Historical fiction is a good way to mix the two as well.

What I hate is not having anything to read, fiction or non! I missed a library trip last week and now it's closed for the holiday.

A good mix of both. Usually I read one fiction book followed by a non-fiction. But anything grad school related (those journal articles...) count as non-fiction so lately I've been reading more fiction when I get to pick the book.

Nonfiction...true accounts, true crime, biographies/memoirs, and travel essays are my favorites. I have a hard time finding fiction that is both entertaining and well-written...I prefer thrillers but it's just too hard to sift through all the junk on the shelves to find a gem. Also, the truth is stranger & more fascinating than fiction in most cases, I've found.
