Does Boston ever hit 100 degrees or 90? What is summer like as season?

Due to the cooling effects of the ocean, 100 is rare. We'll have a week or so in the low-mid 90's, but generally it's in the mid-upper 80's. Humidity is high though.

Personally, I enjoy the summers here.

[edit] Come to think of it, we've already had a couple 90 degree days. This could be a hot one.

It's cooler very close to the coast than farther inland. More than a few miles inland there will typically be several brief spells in the 90's. It varies from year to year. Sometimes there are more hot days, sometimes fewer, but several spells of a few days each in the 90's is typical unless you're very near the coast. 100 is freakishly hot around here. You might get that once every ten or fiteen years, maybe even less often. Highs most days are in the 80's.

It's not super-humid like in the deep South here, but it's still pretty muggy. I think you'll find that pretty much anywhere in the eastern half of the U.S. The mugginess can make summer weather around here less pleasant than it would be with the same temperatures but low humidity. All in all, summer weather here is resonable, but it can be unpleasantly hot and muggy at times.

I've been in Boston over 10 years and every summer there are a handful of days very close to 100. Personally, I don't think it's bad but most people I speak to/work with think it's pretty bad.

Summers are beautiful in Boston, particularly if you live close to the shore. You only need airconditioning for a week or so, usually the days are in the 70s/80s and the nights are cooler. Every summer, there is usually about a 1-2 week stretch where it is in the 90's (sometimes hitting 100).

Here is a cool link with 90+ degree temps for differerent cities:
Mean Number of Days With Minimum Temperature 32 Degrees F or Less (for some reason, that link is reading minumum temps, but the link itself shows max temps)

One thing I didn't realize about Boston though, is that it really rains a lot more than I would have thought.

I've never seen it hit 100 but it does get into the 90s occasionally. Even days in the 80s can be tough if it's humid with no breeze.

I grew up in NJ, where summers did sometimes reach 100 degrees, but back then I had central air conditioning, so it was easier to take...

Days very close to 100? Maybe if you consider low 90's, with the occasional day in the mid 90's, very close to 100.

Visiting Boston for the first 2 weeks in July and was wondering what the nights have been like? Should I pack a hoodie or does it not get that cool until late at night? I have been looking at the forcast on NOAA and it looks like it has been in the mid 50's-low 60's at night. Thanks!
