Questions about Boston. (how much, home, neighborhoods)

Hey there! I'm new to this forum.

I'm writing a novel that's set in Boston. I was wondering if anyone could help me with neighborhood info and basic knowledge like that? Such as markets in those neighborhoods, what's close to the park..? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a writer myself, ChrystalR (or aspiring writer--not sure how much you have to be published before you cross the line from aspiring writer to just plain writer). Tough to write about a subject or a place you're unfamiliar with, though I think you have a good idea in trying to get info here.

I have a suggestion, though. Instead of getting random info on whatever neighborhood each person who happens to respond to the thread happens to be familiar with, maybe if you gave us some idea of what the novel is basically about, and--key points here--how the setting in Boston is a good fit for the novel, and what kind of neighborhood(s) you'd like to know about (close to downtown, outlying residential areas, ethnic, young professional gentrified, ghetto, served by public transit (and mode of public transit) or not, etc.), people could home in on the kind of information you'd find most useful.
