We live in Jamaica Plain and would like to send our daughter to a bilingual school that teaches classes in both Spanish and English. Are there any such schools in the Jamaica Plain or Boston area for K - 12, or at least the primary grades?

thanks

Pretty sure Mass. eliminated bilingual ed statewide a few years back, so I don't think you'd find it in a public school. There may be schools that have some level of Spanish immersion. I know Milton schools offer that for French.

French? It's a beautiful language with awesomely romantic music BUT why not something useful like Chinese or Spanish!?

Default A couple of two-way bilingual immersion programs

Hi-- I'm also interested in this topic but a few years away from needing a solution, if bilingual ed would be a good fit for my child.

There are a couple of two-way immersion programs that I know of, One in Framingham: Framingham Public Schools

One in Cambridge, MA: Cambridge Public School District -

Here is a directory of two-way immersion programs in US, including some other Boston options: Directory of Two-Way Bilingual Immersion Programs in the U.S.

I have no idea how good these programs are; two-way bilingual ed is not a very popular option for all kinds of political reasons.

Hope this helps!

I know of the Excel schools in East Boston, I'm pretty sure they teach in Spanish because it's a requirement on all their job postings. Might be worth checking out.

Yes. The Hurley School in the South End. My son went there and liked it very much. We are from the native English learn Spanish side FYI.
