My wife and I are visiting Boston in September. We were looking at the Courtyard Marriott South Boston. The address is 63R Boston Street.

Our requirements for a hotel is

1) Cleanliness (we've stayed in Courtyards before so I assume it will be just like others)
2) Safety of the area
3) Close to a T station

The latter 2 being most important.

This hotel is a lot cheaper than the ones downtown. And it seems relatively close to the Andrew T Station. Is the area safe? Especially at night when we walk back from the T station.

The Marriott website says the T station is about .3 miles from the hotel. How is the walk? There seems to be a big highway between the station and the hotel.

Also according to the MBTA website, the Andrews Station is like 3 or 4 stops to the downtown area on the red line - about a 10 min ride.

Our plan is to go downtown/Back Bay areas and do "tourist" stuff each morning. Then head back to the hotel to freshen up and go back downtown for dinner.

Is it worth the "hassle" to go back and forth to save about $300-$400 in hotel costs?

It's pretty safe. You walk out of the station through a small but busy intersection over the highway take a quick right and you are at the hotel. The reason it's cheap is that it is in a mall parking lot a mile or two away from anywhere that you would really want to go.

You can stay at The Charlesmark on Boylston Street for well under $300 per night and be in the middle of everything.

The area around Andrew station is a bit gritty for some but should be safe.

The hotel has shuttle bus, but not sure how far it really circulates.

Target, Best Buy and a large supermarket are a 5-10 min. walk.

I sure think it's worth staying there if it saves you that kind of money.
