Hello All,

You have been so helpful to others with their driving questions for Thanksgiving, so I thought I would ask my own.

I am heading over to Rochester, NY tomorrow (Wed.) leaving around noon. I know that it is a pretty straight shot directly across 90, but I had a question about the stretch closer to this end.

My dad (who has admittedly not lived in Boston for 18 years) said that he used to go on Rt. 20 on busy traffic days until he got past the Sturbridge/84 interchange. He said it was a bit of a slower road, but you generally could keep moving.

Is this still a worthwhile route, or is it going to be just as busy and even more backed up because it is not multiple lanes?

Thanks!

It will take quite a long time from Boston/right near Boston to Sturbridge on Route 20. It might be worth it if the Pike is an absolute nightmare but it's pretty slow going.

The earlier you leave tomorrow, the better. If you get out by 7 AM or so you will probably do better on the Mass. Pike. As it gets into late morning and the afternoon, you might do better on 20.
