How is Boston weather? Well, it gets hot and humid in the summer, but nowhere near the levels of the South and Midwest. It gets cold and snowy, but not as cold as the upper Midwest, Great Lakes region, or upper New England.

I heard some people comment how cold it was earlier today. I just rolled my eyes.

I don't think it's as bad as many people think it is. Too many people here don't realize how much colder places like the upper Midwest and parts of Upstate New York are than Boston. Still, Winter isn't as bad as it's cracked up to be.

What gets me is the wind. Boston is WINDY. When it's 30 degrees and the wind is blowing 30mph gusts, it feels frigid. It always seems like there's a stiff breeze (at minimum) in certain parts of town. Walking out of Back Bay Station always seems to be blasting wind.

Boston's spring is short, wet and weak. It sometimes feels like we have about 2 weeks of spring and then it just becomes summer. On the other hand, I don't think the summer is as humid or miserable as people make it out to be. Perhaps that's just because I lived in D.C. for a little while.

Fall is great. My favorite time of the year.

Boston has had very, very little snow in over 50 weeks!

Last December, we nearly hit an all-time record for snowfall for the month of December...just fell short. We had 3-5 inches of snow on Dec. 30 -- and very little thereafter.

Our last big snowstorm (15 inches or more)? At least three years.

Hard to believe the above reflections, but it's true.

As Irfox said, it's the WIND here, not so much bitterly cold temps. It rarely dips below 10 degrees for a low in the city. But 18-22 degrees at 6 am with 20 mph winds = painful fingers after 5-10 minutes if not wearing gloves.
