Framingham to Cambridge would be tough. I would concentrate on towns along route 2. Have you considered Arlington?

Hi 'newto' -- The drive to Cambridge from Framingham is certainly bad. You say "near Cambridge:" if public transportation is an option for the work location then it's best to look somewhere along the line or lines that take you in to that location with minimal transfers. So, for example, the Fitchburg line of the commuter rail system stops in Porter Square, Cambridge, where you can get local transp to the office. If the work location is hard to reach by public transp then I would look for a place to live much closer than Framingham. Walking or a short bus/train ride is best!
