How expensive is it to keep a car in back bay or anywhere in the area? I want to avoid paying for parking if possible and try to keep rent around 2000. If i have to pay for parking I want to try to keep rent @ 1800 max.

I was told Back Bay is a good area for young professionals? I just want an area that has a decent amount of bars and people my age (late twenties)

It would be a good area, but parking is expensive and you'll need to pay. $1800 could work if you're willing to have roommates, or perhaps a tiny studio... but I'm not even sure about that.

You can do street parking I guess. Paying for parking is a ton. If I were you, I'd rather go live somewhere in maybe Jamaica Plain or Somerville and live by myself. JP and Somerville are much younger than Back Bay, much more fun, more interesting, and seems like a better choice for you.

In all honesty, Back Bay is nice, but I would decline to live there. Just doesn't appeal to me that much, aside from walking around in the nice weather or going to the library or something.

BackBay a lot of the eating places and bars cater to the people staying in hotels or going to conventions. The last convention I went to our group looked for a place to eat. My friend and I are total foodies and the best we could do was Legal Seafood.

A neighborhood like South End, North End, South Boston you will go out and have your favorite places and run into other people living around you who also like these places, strike up conversations and will have some new friends before you know it, more community.

who says i'm not young & exciting bjimmy24?? haha ok maybe not so young but I will honestly live anywhere that is fun and has a lot going on. I don't know anyone so I'd like to be able to meet people as easily as possible. I would consider moving to other areas that aren't as expensive, just dont want to be in an area overloaded with Undergrad college kids.

I looked up some parking garages in Back Bay and they offer overnight parking for residents in the area which is exactly what I would need- All for only 110-125 $ monthly. That's not so bad at all. I pay 300 now to park in Hoboken, NJ, not even in Manhattan.

What are you going to do with your car during the day?

Yeah, until you have a job, don't assume you'll be driving to it. Or, if you do, parking might be very expensive there as well.

Some places I worked downtown offered parking to a few senior employees, but they were very senior and it is a taxable benefit.
