There are actually a lot of families north of the Mass Pike in lower Allston. Many of them send their kids to private school. I agree though that Brighton is more family friendly.

Lower Allston (near Harvard Allston campus) is definitely more family-friendly than the rest of Allston. Consider this possibility.
