If they're that bad off, they probably aren't flying for leisure. They're doing it for work, and time = money. Flights with connections are longer, and greater chances of delays.

It's not a matter of being "that bad off". Shopping around airports can mean a difference of $100+ per ticket. For a family of 4 or 5, that can be the difference in taking a vacation or not taking a vacation. Many more would just consider those hundreds of extra dollars a waste of money, if it only means eliminating one connection. It's rarely a big deal, I can think of many better ways to spend that money.

Just for kicks, I checked Spirit to Phoenix for an upcoming trip to Phoenix - $300 round trip for the "bare fare" and the outbound is 13.5 hours with stops in Cleveland, Ft. Lauderdale, and Dallas. Really?? For about $20 more, I can get a non-stop flight on a real airline.

And you would probably pay less considering Spirit and their ridiculous carry-on and other baggage fees.

Parking is a joke, yes.
The fact you have to compare them to those other crappy airports just proves my point.

So you effectively think every major airport is crap. That's very helpful.

I wouldn't take connections like that either! Our trip was nonstop both ways.

Not really, it is in a whole league above those other places. Sure, Charlotte is nicer. Maybe Philly. Atlanta just barely. Detroit isn't bad...

But compared to most airports of comparable size, it really doesn't stack up too badly.

I loathe having to fly through Atlanta. Something ALWAYS goes wrong there.

Everyone has their demon airports (PHL for me). I've got relatively few complaints with Logan. Not that there are way more international and domestic non stops I am pretty happy.
