Ok people, Great Pond is about 2.5 miles from the Braintree red line, wouldn't work, and he doesn't do public transit.

So cross off Somerville, Cambridge, etc. Even Quincy will be rough enough.

Lower mills or Ashmont in Dorchester may not be too bad of a ride and check some of your boxes.

I would push for a COL adjustment. I work for a national company and our pay scales vary by market. You are essentially taking a pay cut to move.

Did Ashmont get bad? When? There were some nice pubs/restaurants etc there. I know a big new construction site caught fire a few months back, which doesn't help.

It's far from the safest neighborhood in the city and frankly I wouldn't move halfway across the country to live there.

Heck, if it got me out of Houston I'd live in Braintree itself. Maybe.

Have you been there lately? It's pretty safe. i mean Codman is a little sketchy, but i would bet it's safer than some areas in JP

If I made as much money as OP, I definitely wouldn't think Ashmont. Not that it's terrible. But why would you move across the country with a top 10% salary to live in Ashmont??
