Thought this too.

Also just crazy. How many people have been shot in boston and nobody shells out even a fraction of that money to make sure they're ok? Guess they weren't good enough at a game to matter.

I don't know the details but I believe Papi has a lifetime contract with the Red Sox. It may involve helping to recruit players from the DR.

3 years...lifetime contract or not...doesn't matter. Papi is family.

Yes...it's obvious from watching the video, that it was no robbery and not random. It's incredible how far the Globe is going to preserve the image of this local icon...still clinging to the "possible robbery as a motive" story. The Daily Mail has had the drug lord wife / lover motive featured prominently in their coverage for the past 12 hrs. From my past experience with them, only a matter of time before the rest of the media catches up...although it'll be fun to see if the Globe ever admits to it.

I find it interesting that you think the Daily Mail story (if true) would tarnish Papi's image.

Because he allegedly cheated on his wife? Please...

Someone tried to assassinate him!

I gotta take the DailyMail with a grain of salt sometimes, as they seem to make their bankroll on scandals and teachers gone wild. I'm surprised they didn't toss up the "im a good man" quote right next to the alleged infidelity.

Ortiz, Pedro, Tim Wakefield, and Jason Varitek are Special Assistants to Dave Dombrowski.
