Anyone have experience with relying on street parking (with a resident sticker) in Eastie (Maverick/Jeffries Point in particular)? How hard is it? We've been lucky over the past few years in Somerville and parking on the street has never been a problem. But we're pretty close to closing on a place in Eastie that doesn't have off street parking. I'm open to paying for a space somewhere, but I'd prefer to rely on street parking if it isn't too much of a hassle. My commute will be entirely on the Blue Line, and the car would sit for the most part outside of weekends and some evenings. So it's not as if I'll be fighting for a spot every day. And I really don't mind parking a few blocks away. But it also looks like it's quite a bit harder to find an open spot than what we're used to.

I do know they have substantially reduced the number of non-resident spaces over the years, but not sure if that has actually improved things for the residents themselves or if just so many more residents are parking cars over there.

I've noticed that too, and it seems like side streets are still pretty crowded. I may just have to give it a trial run sometime soon.

It's no different than any of the other local cities (revere, chelsea, malden, somerville, etc). in some of the congested areas with triple-deckers with limited off-street parking

During the summer you should be able to find parking although it fills up pretty quick around 5PM. Come home at 1AM and you are likely parking a few blocks away.

Winter time is where the stress really kicks in, especially as the snow mounds grow in size and parking spaces become a hot commodity.
