But it's not, there's too many free them all bail funds and disparate impact pimps to count. Tell them you want a group of criminals that happens to be mostly black or brown because vast majority of violent drug-dealing street gangs also happen to be black or brown locked up until trial with no bail and you'll be dangling from the nearest cancel gallows in no time.

The only underlying question to be resolved when bail is set, is whether the defendant poses a flight risk. Bail has nothing to do with the danger a defendant poses to the community, and it is not a mechanism of punishment reflective of what crime(s) they are accused of. Any questions about danger the person poses to the community are addressed in Mass at what is called a "Dangerousness" Hearing under court rule 58A, and its use has increased: https://public.tableau.com/profile/d.../MainDashboard

The city’s is going farrrr left

Citing racial equity concerns the city has gotten rid of advanced learning classes for grades 4-6

I have no comment. I just foresee White flight from the city-not just due to this... but this in conjunction with several other things.

By that logic, they should also get rid of special ed classes since minority students are disproportionately placed there. Good luck Boston.

I dunno. I imagine that the percentage of white people in the city who both have kids and send their kids to public school is already at or near historic lows. If so, any bad decisions made by BPS wouldn't drive white people out of town.

Course, if this would lower prices in nice parts of town then I'm all for it. However, since my job is north of the city, it wouldn't make much sense for me to move back to any Boston neighborhood except Charlestown or maybe Eastie.

"70 percent of students enrolled in the program were white and Asian".

I forgot that Asians aren't minorities when it comes to education. Not like they're getting randomly attacked in public lately or anything. Equal no opportunities isn't a great plan.

More like flight of the educated elite, regardless of their race. The 20% of black and Latino students are for sure mostly the kids of lawyers and doctors.

Reading the article it really seems the superintendent is missing the obvious, kids that excel have family with resources and a strong interest in education. The vast majority of poor family either don't have resources and/or don't really care about the education of their children. Where I grew up all the kids of small farmers and similar were expected to be done with school asap, regardless of the results.

I have friends that work in the NYC public school system in very poor areas and they used to be very frustrated by the fact that, regardless of they efforts and what they do in school, the kids are surrounded by people that have 0 interest in education and as a result 99.9% of them fail pretty badly. After a while their enthusiasm died completely.

There are much better ways to lower housing costs than killing your elite education program.
