Oh no homie, your tune has definitely changed - disdain is already starting to poke through and gone are the cult-like adolation and devotion, soon enough you’ll be telling everyone that racist ch*nky-eyed ho didn’t hire you because you’re Black.

The best part is she's still alive and the dirtbag attacker also sustained injuries.

The city is still nowhere near as dangerous as it was in the 80s and 90s, but the level of cowardice out there right now in unprecedented.

So we are supposed to feel better that it's not as bad as the 80's/90s?

I never said that. There is absolutely nothing we should be feeling good about right now.

To my eyes, the big differences between now and 30 years ago are the number of brazen (broad daylight or in crowded places) incidents and the increased visibility thanks to 24 hour news cycles, social media, and the politicization of it all. The latter (again, at least to me), makes things seem worse than they are - many incidents you never would have heard of, or would have been a snippet on page 7 of the newspaper are shared far and wide, picked up on multiple media outlets, and accompanied by eye witness photos and videos. Apart from the big stuff, you almost had to go looking for news about crime. Now, even small things are unavoidable. The former indicates that there's a change in how criminals perceive the threat of being caught/prosecution. It could be that they're not concerned with law enforcement. It could be that they're desperate enough to do what they do regardless of the consequences. Likely a mix of the two and a little bit more.

Regardless of where we stand today vs. the 80s/90s, crime is worse than we should be tolerating. If that fact alone isn't pushing city officials to take more of an interest, then national public perception of crime as well as the politics around it should. Nobody should be living in fear under the current circumstances, but nobody should be complacent either.

Lmao what excuses? I never have excuses.

I can tell you exactly what happened one of the people form the temporary homeless shelters, likely high on drugs came out and stabbed this woman. People have been saying fight, trash and stuff has gotten worse since the city out those little units there. So im betting that’s what it is. The fact is Franklin Park is not that safe and people don’t sue the backside.

I cut through the Old/abandon section there when walking from Forest Hills trying to go to my job at the current zoo- I saw a large trans sex worker with a small very elderly man- deep in the woods, they walked right by me because the path was so narrow. I remember in 06 they found a dead woman’s burned and charred body back there. It’s spooky back there

It's apparently getting pretty bad over there (and not even deep in the woods). One local guy is doing a "heat map" of needle pickups - there's been a drastic increase since the shelters were put in place.
