Wasn't it typical if anything calm summer given that most major cities crime is up?

Imagine the BPD predictions being WRONG
Even crazier imagine the premise of a 78-page CD discussion being WRONG

Data released by the Boston Police Department shows a dramatic drop in violent crime in the first nine months of 2021, compared to the same time period last year. It’s a startling result that places Boston outside the trend seen nationwide, where murders are rising.
https://www.wgbh.org/news/local-news...national-trend

BTW, I don't know the violent crime rate but the murder rate in 2020, was considerably higher than in 2019 but also lower than in 2018 and 2017. So whatever it is that is increasing murders and violent crimes in the US isn't working in Boston/New England.

It's all relative - bloodbath compared to a city that's not dealing with hundreds of murderous sociopaths routinely unloading full clips down a busy street at a wrong-colored hat, dead-quiet compared to a place like Saint Floydadishu that is actively trying to defund and/or abolish.

While I haven't been around, Boston seems to have dodged the bullet this summer unlike many places in the country. That's been a topic of discussion here, the past few days.

How about the lovely city of Jackson? You folks been playing nice down there?

Jackson MS seems wild. It puts MA cities into perspective a bit. The city has a bit less people in it than Worcester, MA. CD has homicide counts for Worcester from the years 2006-2019. The total is 104 for those 14 years. Jackson had 129 just in 2020... that was their highest year but 2018 and 2019 were still 10x the average homicides rate for Worcester .

We were talking about CT cities recently yet the entire state of Connecticut typically has 100 homicides per year or less with 3.5 million people in the state... Rhode island has 20-30 per year with a population over 1 million people.

Wow that is just insane. What ever happened to that Southern hospitality, there?

Yeah they clocked in more homicides than the Bronx in 2020.That's in raw numbers not per capita we're talking...

This year Bronx homicides are up considerably and they are still neck and neck with Jackson at 116 and Bronx 119 YTD

Take a look at their last few mayors, that might explain a thing or two…
