Yes it is good news that our well trained police force is skillful enough to not first resort to opening fire in the midst of heated exchange.

Your attitude on this is strange. No one is saying Boston is a hell hole...but it certainly has it's fair share of barbaric ****ty people I wouldn't want to live near. And yes, we do have a well trained police force.

It's funny when you refer to the Boston police as "we have" but earlier in your statement its somewhere where you wouldn't want to live? take a break will you.

Um yeah just because we have a good police force doesn't mean I'd want to live in a high crime area.

I'll always be a Bostonian at heart

Not that I could credibly create such a thread, since I haven't curated the kind of feeds that would go into it, but it would probably be helpful (as seems to be the case in some other cities' boards) to people both within and outside the area to have a 2024 crime thread for Boston/Greater Boston in addition to a general, non-specific rolling thread from 2021.

I guess I don't see why a new thread needs to be created...people are continuing to post current events to this new one. I'm not a mod and I really don't care but not sure why people would prefer a new thread. Most people tend to read the newer posts in this thread one would think...

Not sure where I ever implied that Boston is a hellhole.

Nor am I in the position to Monday morning quarterback or second guess how the police handled the situation. I do not question their skill. What I'm questioning is how you are so sure that letting him live was something to celebrate. He was an immediate threat to the lives of many people, and this sicko still remains society's problem.

Letting him live? You're arguing that police officers should be executioners? That's not the job dude. The job is to preserve life whenever possible (sometimes it's not), and let the courts administer justice.
