It this a typical landlord yelp rating or one to avoid at all costs? https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-copley-group-boston-2

(I figure more people go onto yelp to complain than to praise a landlord, but wow.)

My opinion is that I would seriously consider those reviews before making a decision. That company does control a big chunk of property in that area, but there are other units available.

Do you guys know anything about BLP Team | Re/Max Unlimited as a management company? Harder to find reviews on them (which in itself is probably a good thing) but I suspect as a large company, they're probably not great either.

I'm not a real estate pro, but I believe Re/Max is a network of smaller independent brokers. So I think your question would be dependent on which broker you were dealing with. If that's the case they probably only represent the owner or management company in renting the units. There are real estate people here who may be able to offer better info.

What I was told by my broker was that BLP Re/Max was both the listing broker and the management firm for the apartment. Probably can't be worse than Copley (hopefully not famous last words...)

Probably a transformation/renaming or merging of/with some other entity. They do have some yelp reviews going back to 2010: https://www.yelp.com/biz/bostons-lux...ties-brookline
There was once a time where I could suggest a few reputable management companies with larger inventory. So many shysters in this town now, I have none to recommend.

Haha, BLP stands for Boston Luxury Properties?! It's a nice place for the money, but Luxury it is not!

Problem is that those reviews are reviews of them as rental agents, not as landlords. Anyhow... gonna take my chances on them if they accept my application. They say they take students with co-signers so hopefully I'll be okay as an unemployed engineer with a co-signer.
