Along with numerous other serious problems, yet they obsessively focus on certain things and basically ignore the others. Concerning, to say the least.

We live in strange buzzword de jour justice days where laws no longer apply, "marginalized" groups de jour get to do what they want and taxpayers get to suffer what they must. Nothing will be done until some local Instagram "celebrity" walks by in one piece and leaves in multiple pieces.

I’m a bit familiar with this problem (no.. not as addict myself) , but we sent someone there https://www.trosainc.org/

This is 2 year work rehab with somer house extension. Long term programs are the only programs which can help addicts. All these 2-4 weeks rehabs are just waste of money for everybody.

Now I realize that person must want to change, but it’s some solution. Go to jail or to long term program. They are housed, fed, clothed, get some services in exchange for work. Work for program’s private businesses. State helps somewhat too of course.

"Scuzzos"? What a contemptuous, insulting name to call people who have hit the bottom.

Public health crisis declared on addiction:

https://www.wcvb.com/article/mass-an...-2021/38004699

Over the weekend it was determined that NHL player Jimmy Hayes of Dorchester (played hockey at BC) autopsy came back and his death was caused by fentanyl and cocaine. He was found dead at house in Milton in early September. Had a 2 year old and a 3 month old. Hard to imagine how someone like that could throw his life away but that's addiction for you. A little different lifestyle than meth mile but it affects all kinds

But they are promising a crackdown now.

Boston to crack down on tent encampments on Methadone Mile

Janey’s executive order says, “all City agencies will now prioritize enforcement of existing laws and the exercise of existing powers to prevent the placement and maintenance of these encampments in the city.”

I don't think its a liberal minded bleeding heart thing, just a much better way to handle the issue. It's no surprise that the jail approach hasn't worked at all. I'm no psychiatrist but incarceration isn't really a good cure for mental health problems.
