5:30 this evening as they were preparing for an event. This happened at the TechBoston Academy in Dorchester (on campus of the former Dorchester High).

Teacher, student shot in parking lot of TechBoston Academy, officials say

"BOSTON — A teacher and student at TechBoston Academy were shot in the school's parking lot Tuesday evening, according to officials.
Boston police said the shooting happened at about 5:40 p.m. in the area of 9 Peacevale Road in the city's Dorchester neighborhood, specifically the TechBoston Academy parking lot.

The shooting victims, a 31-year-old man and 17-year-old boy, were transported to area hospitals with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the teacher and student were preparing for a school event when someone opened fire on them in the parking lot.
No arrests have been made.
"Obviously, this is a very concerning and disturbing set of circumstances," said Boston Police Superintendent-in-Chief Gregory Long. "Schools are supposed to be a safe haven for our students and our teachers, not a place where they're subjected to brazen and random acts of violence."
"This is an unacceptable situation and we are going to do everything it takes to ensure that each one of our schools, parks and communities are the safe, welcoming homes that all of our students deserve," said Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.
Boston Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Brenda Cassellius said no classes will be held Wednesday at TechBoston Academy. Cassellius noted, however, that the school will be open for anyone who needs counseling following the shooting."

But the school remains closed. I can't remember the last shooting in/around a Boston school, but this was not long after that principal was severely beaten by a student.

a second violent incident at that campus this year. They omit that.

A student was stabbed there in January. https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local...oston/2618338/

A loose bullet was recovered off a student there on October 18th https://whdh.com/news/boston-school-...ents-backpack/

A staffer was arrested yesterday for receiving nude photos from a student. https://www.bostonherald.com/2022/03...-naked-photos/

Additionally, guns have been recovered at The Academy of Rim in Hyde Park and Excel High School in South Boston.

In other Dorchester news, a man was shot in the head at Wentworth Terrace last night. https://twitter.com/StacoS/status/15...HufcdrFEvcEwsA

A teen from Dorchester and a teen from Lynn have been charged in the double shooting.

Two teens charged with double shooting outside TechBoston Academy in Dorchester

https://universalhub.com/2022/two-te...ooting-outside

"Boston Police report arresting teens from Dorchester and Lynn on charges they shot a teacher and a student outside TechBoston Academy around 5:45 p.m. on March 15. Police report that officers arrested a 17-year-old from Lynn who at first ran, possibly because he had "a loaded 9mm Glock 19 handgun equipped with a laser sight" on him at the time. More mess from BPS

Pulling back the curtain on Boston’s new exam school admission process.

The new admission process for Boston’s exam schools is off to a rocky start, marked by last-minute recruitment of students and a potential two-month delay in admission decisions.

Boston Public Schools announced this month it has tapped a major accounting firm, Ernst & Young, to validate calculations of grade point averages used for admission to Boston Latin School, Boston Latin Academy, and the O’Bryant School of Math and Science.

School officials are asking families to be patient as they await admission decisions, which might come as late as May. But tensions are rising, particularly among families relying on private schools as fallback options who are facing deadlines for security deposits.

It's a good concept. **** poor execution as perusal from BPS. TO the point where those waiting to discount the method will use this as a reason to tank it.

No matter your color it is unfair to parents that they don't know whats going on till May when private schools sentacceptances back weeks ago
