JJ's Irish pub is probably another one.

Demographics have just changed, people in Dorchester are fancier now. No one wants to go to a dirty bar with rough people.

I think it was Sonny's that was replaced with Industry not Gerards. Gerards is now Landmark Public House.

With higher real estate prices comes better places to eat at least.

^ Still there. Good food, but I wouldn't call it an Irish restaurant, per se.

it seems like it is a dying business model? In my active duty days there were a ton around that have not made the cut. Doyle's, James Gate, Flan O'brien's, all RIP

They put a condo unit there. Then they moved near Eggleston Sq. That didn't last too long.

Doyle's may be back. Last I hear, plans in the works. I think they are more likely to die when they don't evolve. Longshoreman and laborer's bars with chrome stools and tile floors no longer have a market in this town, because longshoreman don't live here anymore.

Yeah, even though the Red Wing boots and beard look is prevalent amongst coding biotechians it seems old fashioned coke bars are still a bit scary. If they could only get some kind of neon sign or something, so that people can social media pic under than they will be okay.

You're right, my mix up. They must have closed right around the same time?

Another "real" Irish pub if you're looking for that, Paddy Barry's in Quincy Center. I believe they are still going.
