Hello -

I had a couple questions about both Louisville and Erie.

First off, which area would be better to raise a family? I know Louisville is on the top places to live lists, but sometimes those lists can be overblown. I would like actual opinions from residents or people familiar with both areas. Are both areas considered safe? And are there activities for kids and amenities?

I have also read on another site of some residents in Erie being a bit snobby and superficial. Is there any truth to this or is this overblown? Is it an overall friendly area?

And lastly, I know all about Boulder being a very liberal city. Without getting too into politics here, are Louisville or Erie very liberal as well? Or does the close proximity to Boulder not factor in? We are conservative and would not want to feel uncomfortable.

Thank you!

Until others chime in with advice, here's something from an older thread to consider:

I'm wondering what the pulse of the community is surrounding fracking in Boulder County right now. How do YOU feel about the recent bans, counter suits, and drilling encroaching into residential areas? Does this topic come up in conversations with your neighbors? Do you not give it a second thought?

Our small family of three will be relocating to Longmont this winter. We LOVE Colorado and are very excited to make this move. I just wanted to get your thoughts on this (new to me) oil and gas drilling topic.

Both are very safe. Both have a lot of kids activities and are family focused. Louisville has a very nice downtown where you can shop or get dinner. Erie is stripmalls.

Erie is mostly new homes in planned subdivisions. I think it attracts people who keep their cars shiny and their lawns perfect. I wouldn't call them snobby. You get more house for your money in Erie.

Louisville was developed a few decades ago and the houses are older. Louisville is closer to Boulder if you need to commute in.

Boulder is Boulder, and there isn't another place like it politically. I'd say both towns are fiscally conservative and moderate on social issues. Basically like most family centric cities.

I think you can spend an hour or two driving around both towns and will quickly know the one that is best for you.

You might want to check out Superior also. The housing stock is newer than Louisville but it has a lot of the advantages of Louisville.

Can you guys tell me about Superior? Is it also a family friendly area or catered more to young singles?

Is it a low crime area?

Some info would be greatly appreciated!

Def family oriented. Low crime as far as I know, though recently all around the area (Louisville, Lafayette, Superior) there have been car break-ins, mostly of unlocked cars.

Superior is almost completely the Rock Creek neighborhood, and that is very family friendly. Superior is close to job centers of Boulder and Interlocken, plus the Flatirons Mall. Also has excellent schools.

I'd pick up Lafayette, Broomfield, or even Superior - over Louisville any day.

^^^^Yeah, I would second that question. Nothing wrong with Lafayette, Broomfield or Superior, but Louisville is awesome. Awesome communities tend to be expensive.
