Hello everyone
My husband and I are planning to move to Brevard County Fla in a few months and are looking to rent a home. We have an old English sheepdog who is 11 yrs old and does nothing but sleep. Otis is people and kid friendly. We want to be in Brevard county since we are looking for a home to purchase there and find it best to be there to make it easier to look around. I am disabled and my husband is retired we would be happy to give references. Hopefully we will hear from someone thank tou Marilou W

Use this link for rentals and purchasing. Just go to the housing section at the top middle area:

craigslist: space coast classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events

You can also search realtor.com under "rentals". Good luck! I moved here a week ago and am loving it so far!

Is it actually for sale? My house is listed and it has not been on the market for 3 years. Last week some guy parked, got out of his car, took pics of our neighbor's house from all directions, even walking up to the fence in their back and side yards to take pics of the pool leaning over the top of the wooden fence. Teens were home alone and they called us because it scared them . He had a copy of the house from Zillow in his hand and was scouting it out before calling the realtor listed on the page. Also not for sale. I am not a big fan of the realtor, com places for that reason.

No, we leased for a year til wife can retire. Lots of homes listed for sale on Zillow. One cautious thing. Get a full disclosure of all buyer expenses to the penny before signing any contract in Brevard. We were lied to by a realtor. Lost nearly a thousand dollars because of it.

My point was they are not always still for sale when listed . People need to call a realtor and make sure before doing a drive by and trying to peak into windows etc. like a lot of people do.

$1000 is a lot to lose. Was it deposits you didn't realize you would need to pay?

A friend from work's daughter just got the boot out of her rental after living there a month. She found hers on Craigslist. She rented it from someone who did not own the house. . They got first/last and deposit from her and no where to be found. You really have to do your homework when renting now.

Zillow posts warnings about renting from an unknown source. Scams are common. We got our lease through a local property management company. I'd never lease from an individual because of all the scams. Zillow lets you filter for a lot of parameters. I always went and looked at the house before contacting an agent. And the neighborhood too. I had several get away before I could even contact the agent. One agent told me Zillow was not up to date but I found the same problem worse on the Brevard MLS site. Often an agent will have a contract on a property whether rental or for sale. If so I moved to my next choice. I'd make a list of 6 before even contacting the agent. Really cheap houses are being gobbled up by speculators. Probably the safest sales are short sales directly with banks. Avoid Homepath. Not good. To much hidden not discussed until you sign. Then comes the things the bank wants that are not refundable. Neva Eva again. We are looking at lots in north Indian River County just across the county line to build on next year. I need a half acre garden and to be closer to the water front restaurants and boat ramps.
