Yahoo was around long before Google...then Google came along and did it better. Apple was around before Microsoft...no need to explain that one. (I'm a Mac user, but "facts is facts"! ) If you have the means to do it better...go for it. Personally, I'd love to see an improvement on ebay--and I detest Paypal--gave up on it after one too many spams trying to get into my account!

I would start with a niche market and grow from there. There is already several other general auction sites.

i'm looking for those people who hate ebay for raising fees and paypal for not being seller friendly. thats a nice way of putting it.
the niche would be to get together a fee seller and form a site and build consumer confidance

We were just talking about this yesterday and saying the same thing. I thought there were a few other auctions sites but none have been able to beat out ebay. Good idea to get some Power Sellers together but are they not Power Sellers because of ebay? I hope you figure this out, it would be interesting. Good luck!

Yup...[checking, checking] you're right! So I guess the point is: there's room for both of them, so there's room for more than one auction site
