I know Vancouver has great Asian food. I've been there. I'm just a bit surprised about Calgary since I assumed its Asian community would be a lot smaller. And does the wealth of good Chinese food apply to other Asian groups as well like Vietnamese and Korean? In that regard, I assume Houston might have the edge in this regard as it has the third largest Vietnamese population in the US after LA and San Jose.
I have lived 40 years in Calgary. I love this city. Yes it is still growing pop was app 300,000 when I moved here in 1972 now pop is 1.2 million and growing. Largest city in area in Canada. Very mild winter this year only 2 minor cold snaps this winter. Prices are not all that bad you can still find bargains if willing to look for them Crime rate relatively low about 25 murders last year 3 so far this year. No provincial sales taxes
Took some photos as the flight left Calgary for Toronto. The first one is the last I saw of Calgary.
This next one was taken less than a minute later. Does anyone recognise the village/small town in the mid distance? (The mark on both photos is a scratch on the camera lens)
Because it's winter now? or is there construction going on?
Are you missing Calgary? or are you still enjoying Houston?
(no Rocky Mtns near Houston, pretty flat)
Anyway Calgary sure looks good in those photos
I think he means the new blue/silver grid building; it is now up, and is called "the Bow". Actually, it's supposed to have a sistership building right beside it. They just cleared the land for it, but I don't know when it's planned. The companies inside were talked out of putting a gigantic sign on the outside, like all the other buildings/hockey rinks. Looks good.

Reason: spelling

The thing about Asian food in Vancouver is it's always fresh, very competitive, i.e. no MSG.
I've not found Asian food anywhere else yet, and not in Calgary, but I'm looking.
The Vietnamese I'm working with here are more "Canadian" than I am; the community is well established and seems much more entrenched than the community I knew in Vancouver.
