I am inquiring about the Central Coast location and its surroundings.
How close is this to the Redwoods?
How close is this to Yosemite?
Are there lots of trees in the Santa Barbara County area?
Is Santa Barbara County considered Central Coast if it is in the Santa Maria town area?
Does this area get rain storms with thunder and lightening?
Does this area get snow at all? How far to the the snow if not?
What is the best little town in Santa Barbara County that is closest to the national forest area?
Is there a lot of good Christian Schools K-12 in the Santa Maria surrounding areas?
If I think of anymore questions I will type in and ask.. thanks for the help.

I would consider the Central Coast from the Santa Maria Area to the northern San Luis Obispo county which borders San Miguel to Monterey county. I wouldn't consider Santa Barbara to be the central coast but some might. In San Luis Obispo county, we do not get lightening and thunder storms, nor do we get snow. I remember snow a couple of times that we lived here, once in 1989 and we had just enough snow to cover the ground and it was gone in a few hours. I think it also snowed around 1999. There are no redwoods here. You need to go further north around the Big Sur area.

There are some Christian schools in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, and Atascadero (San Luis Obispo county). San Luis Obispo has a good Christian High School. As you can see I have more info about SLO county as I live there. We are definitely the Central Coast.

Do you have any photos you can share on here of the area and the country there?
How far are the BIG mountians from that area? Can you see them from there or are they something you would have to drive to in order to see?
Thanks for the info its great!

To add:
Technically the Central Coast area is considered from Santa Barbara up through Monterey.

There is rain, thunder, and lightning but no snow. The closest National forest to Santa Maria is about 15-20 minutes east near Cachuma Lake. The town is called Santa Ynez.

To answer your last question, you can definitely see the Mountains from anywhere in the Santa Barbara county area. That's actually one of the things that makes the Santa Barbara area so great is that there is ocean and mountain ranges relatively close together.
