Hello Friends,
We're considering moving to Southern California (may be around Thousand Oaks) from NoVa.
We both're working IT professionals and would become virtual employees if we decide to move. Challenging part would be to Work from Home...

Additionally, we can easily buy new TH (2900 Sqft - 3lvl) here under 420-450k, if we move I guess we would be renting from at least 6 months...

Why moving: Sibling in CA, more family time (We visit at least once in year for a week)

I know its more of personal choice and circumstances, but still would like to hear what is your take on this? your valuable inputs may help in covering all bases in decision making.

Thanks.

I was from SoVa and moved to NorCal.

If you are indeed a nature lover, as I am and was when I lived in southern California, you would probably like the following towns. You didn't mention if you wanted urban living, suburban living, or rural so I'm shooting out a bunch. Also, there's a lot of different climates crammed together. Towns near the ocean stay cool. Inland towns get hot. Mountain towns get snow in the winter.

Nice Mountain Towns: Big Bear Lake, Lake Arrowhead, Wrightwood, Idyllwild, Julian
Picturesque valley towns: Oak Glen, Ojai, Fallbrook, Ramona, La Canada, Thousand Oaks, Temecula
Nice Towns with mountains in the backyard: Mission Viejo, Clairmont, Redlands, Poway

A couple of rules to think about,

Never live south of Ventura.. I am sure there are more, but that about covers it.
