Prop 30 will not bring in the revenue that Moonbeam and the fools' brigade are hoping for. Successful people (the rich) will simply bail out. And good for them.

You might be correct. I asked my cleaning lady about this and she said the same thing.

Nice fact-based assertion. The rich would rather pay more to live in California (like everyone else) than count their stacks in Bumfart, Texas. Even the ex-Presidential candidate who fought against taxes on the rich and openly disdained the lower classes has decided to settle in La Jolla.

If you believe Romney is going to subject himself to full residency tax laws you really need to rethink that;

Quote:
From the California Tax Board: Part-year residents of California are taxed on all income received while a resident and only on income from California sources while a nonresident.
Trust me, Romney is a smart guy, so too are his financial advisers. They've got this all sorted out. He is not going to be paying one red cent more than he has to.

Actor Depardieu bids
Some people never learn I've found in life. I've finally embraced that sometimes its better to not argue with such people. Tell them they're right and let them walk down that path into a brick wall. That's the best thing to do sometimes. Effectively, they'll get exactly what they are looking for good/bad. I will find myself enjoying California's undeniable natural beauty as well for many years to come.. But I'll be damned if I ever become a resident there again or subject myself to its taxes.

Is it a coincidence that when taxes went up, tax revenue takes a big dive.

Despite Tax Increase, California State Revenues in Freefall

People say what a great place to live....California

Lets look at some facts:

There are nice places in California and some of the worst in the country. Examples of California: They tell us that other states are hot and miserable to live and California is perfect. Fact: California has some of the hottest areas in the nation with highest temperatures in the nation from Death Valley to Redding highest in nation. Barren desert, where only true desert rats live, with more land in desert than land in some states.

We are told how great the sunshine and surf, while running down places that have snow. Fact: California has some of the snowiest places in the nation with the worst winter travel conditions. Worse than most of the rocky mountain states as an example.

We are told how great the economy is. Fact: California has the highest poverty rate in the nation. AND California has about the worst unemployment rate in the nation.

Note some small towns have 100% poverty rate, and these rates were from before they started adjusting for cost of living. Nearly 25% of California residents live in poverty.

We are told, how great the incomes are in California. That is true for part of the state, but a big part of the state (over half) the median income is less to far less than national median income.

And when you adjust median incomes by state for cost of living, California has many ahead of them.

More people have been moving from California than moved into the state for the past 7 years.

And the sad thing is, the ones leaving the state are the solid middle and upper class families. Moving and taking the good jobs with them. Often being replaced by the very poor. A big reason that tax revenues keep falling. The tax payers leave, being replaced by those that need help.

Fact: For safety, you have to be careful where you live in California.

Is what it is .. the path is set at this point for California as much as is it for the U.S. Best someone can do who is informed whom embraces this reality is to do what they can to mitigate the damage it has on their personal life. Companies are doing so as are some people and the rest is just history. When the 'gap' further increases in years to come, people will act as if, yet again there was some magic that created it. However, the truth will be centered on those taking the more informed/thought through path.. A path that continues to evade many as they deny the realities and truths sitting right before their eyes. The story of life... repeated over and over.
