I can hear you cons rolling your eyes already...

Jerry Brown: California's deficit is gone - SFGate

Of course it still has to get through the legislature, both houses of which have Democratic super-majorities. And it fails to account for the massive exodus of rich people -- excuse me, "job creators" -- caused by Prop. 30, which is sure to begin any... day... now.

Nonetheless, it's clear that the state is in better fiscal shape than it was during the Schwarzenegger years.

It would b nice if it works, but ....They projected the following deficit for 2012:Jan. 2012, $9.2 billion

However– California's budget deficit has swelled to a projected $16 billion -- much larger than had been predicted just months ago --

Hopefully it will be true this time.

Brown already declared 2013 "the year of fiscal discipline and living within our means."

That should be every year.

How about a roll of the eyes from a liberal perspective...why no restoration of the 30%+ cut that the handicapped folks suffered in terms of Social Security Supplement payments?

Oh that's right, handicapped folks don't have a really big voter block.

Thats why I voted for Jerry Brown he had the background and experience to get us out from this mess. He made some tough decisions, and yes there were some people who were'nt too happy, but the the health of the state of California was urgent and needed immediate action.

It took a Democratic Governor to balance the budget. Say what you want about Democrats, but you can't say that they didn't make a great deal of cuts to the budget to services, many of which Republicans in the legislature opposed.
