Well, the first Spanish mission was set up in San Diego in 1749 so I'm not sure where the 16th century is coming from. It doesn't matter what the natives called it. They were here first in the land we now California either way. People on these forums really love to debate and twist reality.

Didn't think they could afford droves.

California has a nearly 2 trillion dollars GDP, it's actually the 8th economy in the world and the state that pays the most and receives the least from tax funds.

Federal taxation and spending by state - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feder...venue_by_state

Not per capita or as a % of its own GDP.

Yes California is the biggest contributor in absolute dollars but California is far from efficient.

California has very low tax revenue corrected for the amount of people it has.

California's net tax revenue isn't that high when compared to it's GDP.

It's like a rich company saying they pay tons of taxes but actually doesn't pay very much in comparison to profits

bob, give it up on the "per capita" thing unless you know when it's applicable and meaningful.
California is the biggest contributor to the nation's treasury. Period.
California receives considerably less federal spending than it contributes. Period.
California has the world's eighth most powerful economy. Period.
The size of population in these factors and functions is totally irrelevant to contribution / consumption.

What is your issue with false portrayal of the state?
Are you unhappy here? If so, why not leave?
If you want to change something, use accurate foundational positions.

If you want, for example, to discourage people from continuing to overpopulate the state - which is its SOLE root problem - then show how overpopulation is making California a poor choice as a place to live. In which case you will also need to focus on the coastal urban areas.

Most likely when the new Americans start voting, CA will once again be part of Mexico. Glad I sold my property there.
