I find it funny that you say is not true but statistics show that when Mexican Americans of both genders marry outside their ethnicity they account for over 40% of all interracial/ethnicity marriages to whites. Why is that? I don't see many Mexican Americans marrying blacks or Asians except Filipinos. I live in the Mexican headquarters of the USA, LA and most of the mixed couples I see our white guys with Asian girls and Hispanics of both genders with whites.

I am sure that they being the two largest pluralities within the state (39% for non-hispanic whites; 38% for Hispanics) has nothing to do with it . Asians are the next largest, but only at around 13.9% (though, quickly growing), followed far behind by African Americans at only 6% (and decreasing) of the state. Obviously, the white non-hispanic and the Hispanic/Mexican populations will have the highest percentage of cross-pollination based on their numbers alone.

What is more surprising (at first glance) is how numerous Asian-White (white male, Asian female) couples are. Under further analysis, it is less surprising as these two groups tend to be the highest educated in the state and are more likely to interact with each other within the academic and professional spheres. As many know, Asians and Asian Americans (at least South and East Asians) have a large disproportionate representation in higher education, old school professions like medicine, as well as STEM careers.

My great aunts (some anyways) still think like that, but I dont (personally) know anyone below 50, in the US or Mexico, that thinks or preaches that. Mexican Americans have high levels of intermarriage with Filipinos and last time i checked, they werent white. The religious aspect outweights the racial one.
Yes, I should have noted the story I was recounting was from the 90's. So her mother was very much old school. We (hopefully) all live in different (more tolerant) times now.

No, because it is a fact that Hispanics hate everyone.

I was talking with this man I met recently and he was saying he thinks some of the hispanics in the LA-OC area really don't like white people. There's some kind of racial tension going on he was saying. He was saying it's the same kind of tension he observed that was going on with the whites and blacks here in the 1980's. Do you agree?
Based on my experience - no. I dig white people

[although, technically, Hispanics could be white so maybe I'm saying I like myself]

I am Hispanic, and I like all people as long as they are good to me, I am good to them.

I guess to take a quote from the great MLK. I judge people by the content of their character, not the color of their skin!!

You go Jay! I have a number of cousins who married Mexicans (and one a Peruvian) and their kids are the best looking kids in the family - better looking than either parent. I guess when you mix Hispanic with English/Scots-Irish you get some good results.
