Can't believe any mileage anyone turns in and it is not hard to change the reading on your mileage indicator with common tools for checking the electronics, and how will out of State drivers be charged and out of State trucks be charged and .... well it looks like the residents will bear a greater level of cost than they do now.
This is easy. They will force you to do smog check annually or biannually or even quarterly or monthly which create more jobs and profit for the governments and governments sponsored crapitalists.

They are running out of money for social entitlements, benefits and pension funds. This is their way to get your money.

While that would cover CA residents, it would let every out of State vehicle off the hook. Plus it would take more people to do such checks, causing prices to rise even more if it were beyond 1 time a year. It is easy to change an odometer reading even on brand new cars, so the figures could easily be altered before you went in for the check. "Hey I only drive 5 miles to work, so I barely drive 5000 miles a year in this car in total" they claim and .... they really drive 15,000 miles..

Humm,

Start a new proposition mandating that every dime collected for gas tax goes ONLY to actual road repair. 100% and every dime in other fees claimed to be for road repairs goes 100% for actual repairs.

There would be plenty of money even now with no increase at any level or for any reason.

Here’s a much better way: stop subsidizing the purchase if electric vehicles. Then, charge an extra tax at the time of purchase that is roughly the equivalent of what a regular vehicle pays in gas taxes.

Another solution is to pass another proposition to abolish income tax and watch CA governments crash.

There are cash and credit gas prices now. They just need to add CA resident tax free price and non CA resident 10000% tax gas price.

I read they want to install meters on all cars that would register miles driven, similar to odometer and we would get billed according. Talk about another government boondoggle. Just another reason to flee California.

I'm currently posting this from bright red Oklahoma. What a godforsaken state this place is. Just a depressing dump. Flight leaves in 1 hour and cant wait to get back.
Got lots of family in OKC. I like it. Clean, modern city, well maintained roads, nice people. I guess "godforsaken" and "depressing dump" are highly subjective.

Seriously though - my cousins have good jobs and the cost of living is so low they all have big new brick homes that cost vastly less than they would in California plus new vehicles and the ability to take nice vacations all over the country and world. I guess if a place is treating you right you'll be content there.
