Yep, got out today with the yorkie in basket, enjoying the beautiful downtown weather (75). Damn near perfect. No mask for me but I did see a few cyclists with them on. Living life.

No, what's absurd is exercising in public during a pandemic without covering one's mouth and nose. Highly inconsiderate as well. Bicyclists need to either use a stationary bike at home, or find something else to do, such as push-ups, jumping jacks, or a million other home exercises -- turn on Jane Fonda's workout video and exercise away.

Here’s a newsflash, not everyone exercises the same. If people want to cycle and jog, they can. It’s as simple as that. It’s not feasible or required to wear a mask while doing either activity.

If you are afraid that if you go outside, someone a block away might breathe on you, by all means stay in.

Boggles my mind how we all know that the pandemic won't be over until most people have been exposed, but some are doing their darndest to make sure no one is exposed. Oh, wait, that's a different topic. I think I'll go outside and take some nice deep breaths of fresh air.

Besides lil kids I don't know anyone that also doesn't own a car. I commuted to work for 2 years by bike but I also have a side by side, boat, travel trailer, 2 Xterras, Murano and an F350. My fuel bill was still over 1000 a month.

They are opening up all parks and beaches. There are still people in stores without a mask. If you are going to catch it, it will be in a store.

This.

All the hand-wringing over parks, playgrounds, and beaches is just a bunch of Karens wanting to tell everybody else what to do.

Not a single case in Korea or Taiwan (the only countries to successfully contact trace and isolate) came from casually passing by someone on the street or touching an infected playground surface.

"Abundance of caution" sometimes crosses the line into stupidity.

The beaches closing thing was ridiculous. In Florida, for spring break, it made sense. Their narrow beaches get packed with hundreds of thousands of fly-ins. LA/CA beaches are NEVER busy. Neither are surf breaks. In 20 years of hitting the surf and sand in SoCal, I've NEVER had to sit within 6 feet of another person who was not my family member. I've only been within 6 feet of another surfer when I was being aggro about someone snaking my wave. When it's ULTRA-busy, I might pass 2-3 people on sidewalks or parking areas within 6 feet.

Today I had to go to 1 store. It was 30 minutes from when I left my car to when I got back in. During that time, I stood in line OUTSIDE the store with some dude breathing down my neck for 5 minutes. Then I passed at least 3 people inside the store with a proximity of no more than 4 feet, because there was no choice. The store was good-sized and probably only had 20 people inside.

Beaches, parks, roads, cycling, surfing are clearly not the problem. I think we've just got a bad case of micromanagement-ism and nose-in-other's-businessism from the fun police.

When they see 30 people laying out on the beach, with 100' between them, or a group of cyclists, or some surfers, they must chuff angrily to themselves and think--in the back of their minds--something like "How can they be having FUN? Don't they know how SERIOUS everything is right now!" And then they run to complain to twitter, CD, facebook, etc.

Unfortunately, many of these Karens seem to have seats in our governing bodies.
