I am aware that a breeze is a often occurrence at a beach and the fact it is outdoors is another factor in substantially cutting down chances of viral transmission. I had a haircut done outside on a yard patio, on a day with a steady breeze. We both wore masks and the haircut took 15 to 20 min. Now on the other hand, if after the haircut, we both decided to lounge around on the patio for a hour or so without a mask on, talking and laughing & not keeping the social distance......then I feel the risk would rise if either of us was carrier of the virus

There are several strands of evidence supporting the efficacy of masks.

Perhaps the poster you responded to, meant to state those looking stupid are those not wearing a mask

Wearing a placebo is stupid. We can play the appeal to authority articles game all day long. Nothing more ridiculous than those thinking they are "protected" because of a piece of cloth on their face. Then again, conditioning the public to accept absurdities is a speciality for California.

Appealing to authority is one of the easiest fallacies to spot, and thanks for making my point along with CA4Now. We're in August, this has become a running joke, but the gullible swallow anything authorities tell them too.

This is why we're never going to get out from under this. You do not seem to understand that the mask isn't principally for your protection, it's for the protection of others. Why are we this far into this pandemic yet there are still people who don't get the mask concept?

talk about cherry picking sources

Regarding your claim that Holland does not require masks. That's "sort of true", but then you could say the same about the US, there is no national requirement either here or there for wearing masks - however, individual cities can require masks, so while Holland doesn't require masks, Amsterdam does https://www.reuters.com/article/us-h...-idUSKCN2512CF

Next comes a 5 month old article citing various 'experts' warning against wearing masks- that sounds like the same time that Fauci was doing that, and it had nothing to do with the efficacy of masks, but rather a way of avoiding panic when masks were not available to the general public https://www.wired.com/story/how-mask...-to-must-have/

I don't think you even read the Wired Article, or you wouldn't have used it- it's basically a rehash of the March argument against masks but actually mentions that masks are probably effective if enough people wear them: "2018 study by Jin Yan and colleagues from the US Food and Drug Administration constructed a model based on assumptions from laboratory data. They concluded that if only 20 percent of people use masks, it wouldn’t make a difference for the spread of influenza. At 50 percent compliance, though, with the use of high-filtration surgical masks, the effect might be substantial."

You accused a poster of using sources that supported her theory and you did exactly the same thing.. The thing is that masks do work, they have always worked or doctors and nurses would not encumber themselves with them.
