The chances of them succeeding are about as good as finding a needle in a haystack!

I found this article rather interesting. The tiny town that is basically nothing more than a pass through on the way to Lake Havasu, Laughlin, or Las Vegas is considering leaving California to be a part of Arizona or Nevada. Normally, this type of talk is often discounted ... but this sounds like a pretty strong movement that people are serious about.

There are some good points mentioned about why Needles has become little more than a ghost town: the high cost of doing business, and the over regulation that California is known for. Too many other times, secession attempts have failed ... but what does everyone else think? Is secession possible, and could it actually improve things in Needles if it does happen?
I hope it works out for the little town. We have stopped by there many times for gas and to grab a bite to eat. Yes, it is small, I don't know that it has changed much since the 1950s but if things can improve for them and they can get a point acroos more power to them.

We all need to get our meth somewhere Imagine if it was legal? Needles would practically be the new Beverly Hills!

It would be easy for the Needleites to leave CA and join AZ, the boundary between the two states is the centerline of the river.

If they hired enough illegals they could dig a ditch on the west side of town, divert the Colorado and voila, they are in AZ, as soon as the river is diverted they would have to fire all the illegals.

It seems to me that most people in Needles are happy being a backwater, they relax along the river, have a few beers, kick back.

well I think you have that about right. I was wondering earlier today, when someone wanted to know about rentals in Needles cause they were relocating to the town, what would one do in Needles? Still if the people of Needles want out, good for them.

Besides the river, Laughlin is only about 30 minutes away.

Pfft..us in the San Fernando Valley need not look further than Palmdale for that

Which brings me to another question...why are all the meth labs in the desert? Is there something about hot, dry air that makes meth better? I wouldn't know because I don't tweak.

As for Needles, no matter what state they are in, they will be on the periphery. It depends what you'd rather be affiliated with...Clark County, NV (and saying you live in a Vegas suburb as a result), Mohave County, AZ, or San Bernardino County, CA (and being technically part of the Greater LA area)?

In my eyes, all extremely poor choices. They should make their own state.
