I love CA because I HATE cold winters. and Rusty vehicles caused
by ice/slush/snow.
And the FOOD choices we have!! Produce, restaurants, shopping centers for
foods.
And...the mountains out my back patio!!!

The area of the United States that has the deepest snowfall of anywhere in the United States inhabited by man, is Soda Springs, California. I have cross country skied over powerlines, on standard poles.
The coldest temperature on record in California is -45 degrees at Hirschdale
I myself have had my thermometer go to -35, for a week straight.

California is a big state, and has quite a few snowy cold places...

I like California in part for what Greenchili and others have said, and for the above, this is a state where if you want it, it is out there. That really cannot be said for any other state.

A game I used to play when I was in the Navy working with people from all over the country, was, to have them name some landscape, geography, or weather condition they had, and I would show them where we had the same thing in California.

GreenChili, you have quite a prominent peak just south of you, Tranquillon Mountain, it can be seen from the Santa Lucia Ridges behind SLO, and from the San Rafael Ridges behind Santa Barbara, and from far out at sea. I kept seeing it, rising like Fujiyama above the surrounding hills, and wondering what it was, then I figured it out. Some years ago I actually hiked almost all the way around it, until I got picked up by base security.

The instant cure for a Beautiful woman's headache is $5000 to spend in the Mall.
