Hey guys, us Californians receive a lot of flack on these forums, so I thought I'd pose a question...why do you love living in California?

Personally, I have a lot of history here. My great, great, great, great, great grandfather was a 49er and lived very near to where I live now. My father has lived here (in this county) all his life, and so have I. I feel a deep connection with the Sierra Nevada, and plan to spend my entire life here, because to me, it's paradise on Earth. I firmly believe that California is the most beautiful place on this planet.

What about you? What about California makes you want to live here? The mountains? The trees? The ocean? The coast? The desert? The wildlife? The diversity in peoples and landscapes?

Aren't there several existing threads with practically the exact same theme?

Where do I begin. I love the different climate zones and terrains. You don't have to leave the state to experience something new. The diversity in people. Hispanics, Africans, Asians, Whites etc. The cities are definently a site to see. I will always believe CA to be the best place on Earth. I was born here, forced to move to a very horrible state, then was reunited with paradise.

Because I know I am a native, and that makes me feel like I am a part of the grandeur that is California. I love the scenic, ethnic, architectural, cultural, and socioeconomic diversity. I love the fact that we are known for so many great things and yet are infamous in many ways as well. I love the history that Los Angeles has with the celebrities and the motion picture industry, considering that movies were such a huge part of our culture between the 30's and 60's, it just makes it seem that all eyes were focused on California. I love the fact that I can go to a desert, and ocean, a mountain range, a dense rainforest, a volcano, an island, wine country, big cities, small towns, and the whole time never leaving the state. Sure California has it's share of bad stigma's but seriously find me a place that doesn't and I'll give you my life savings.

All the above! Plus there is so much to do and see. Variety is the spice of life and California sure has a lot of that.

I'm just tickled to death to have been born and raised in a place that so many in the Bible Belt consider to be both Sodom and Gomorrah rolled into one.

Los Angeles is the largest Catholic archdiocese in the nation [4 million parishioners]. The cathedral holds 4000 seats that are full on Sunday mornings at every mass. There also is a significant Buddhist population [by far the largest in the US].

It isn't called City of Angeles for nothing.

There really isn't an evangelical presence through Black Baptist churches are large & active in politics.
