I figure I can eat anything I want while camping. The fresh air and back to nature experience offsets the unhealthy food

There are individual tuna packs now. Also small fruit cups. I have more success in finding these things at Dollar General stores than regular grocery stores.

Take a look at Mountain House freeze dried food pkgs.

They are sold at Walmart supercenters and online from Amazon, and maybe directly from the manufacturer.

They are pouches you add hot water to, and will keep for like 10 years shelf life.

Lightweight and portable, you open the pouch, take out o2 absorber, and add a cup or two of hot or boiling water (follow directions). Seal for 5 minutes or so and voila, dinner or lunch or breakfast.

You can eat out of the pouch or put in bowl.

I love the beef stew, and beef Strogganoff. They have singoe serving and double servings in a pouch.

There is a competitor, but i think they come family sized or a weeks or months worth in one container. You dont want that unless you use a vacuum sealer to pirtion them out.

Check it out they have like 10 meal types! Plus breakfast ( like scrambled eggs and sausage. Etc.

Good luck!

Maybe not the healthiest, but you do get a lot of good quality calories and you'll burn it all off hiking, better than candies and junk food IMO.
