Your mileage may vary. I don't own one, it's only information from other RV'ers. I never met anyone who told the truth about their fuel mileage... except my dogs. I have a 27' travel trailer (Northwood) and tow it with a Ford Excursion. I do not get 20 mpg towing... lol.

I see sellers of the RV I have saying they get about 5 MPG's more than I ever got with mine or other owners I know.

VW Rialta held to 60 mph, It will get 32+mpg when it becomes a diesel. 3 friends have done so.

I drove very heavy loaded sprinters for 5+ yrs, they averaged 20 - 22mpg in the mtns.

Our 2007 Roadtrek Sprinter RV diesel (with all equipment installed: water tanks, toilet holding tank, shower, electric queen bed, 2 large storage wardrobes, mini-kitchen with big microwave, propane generator) had the 5 cyl 2 point something liter engine and got the truthful mileage stated.

A couple years later Roadtrek upgraded their Sprinter Adventurous model RV to 6 cyl engine and mpg was less.

The 5 cyl was a fifth generation MB engine - which they stopped building in 2006. I had one in a MB 300D - got fantastic mileage (35-40 mpg) for the first few years, then slowly as the seals and rings started going the mileage dropped considerably. By that time it was down to 18-20mpg - with old 1500ppm fuel. Can't do it today with the new 15ppm and DEF.

Those OM656 engines are tiny which is probably the reason for the high mileage numbers. My unloaded Unimog gets 22mpg with 125hp engine putting out 400# torque. When I'm towing the horses it drops to around 15.

Likewise my 8,800# 1st gen CTD's get 20+ mpg empty, but when towing (heavy, 35-40k+ GCVW) they drop to 12 - 16 mpg.

The Rialta likewise is fine 20 mpg @60 mph, but add a heavy crosswind and she drops to 16.

I do prefer my 'old-school' stuff (Pre - electronics and emissions).

Non- MH road trips my B4V (Passat TDI Wagons) deliver 48 - 52mpg and have 25 gal tanks. = 1250+ miles between Rest room stops. Friends with Cruze 1.6L gets 55+.
Since I stay in Hospitality guest homes (0 - $20 / night Worldwide) My MH does not save me much lodging $$. I carry a solar shower + campstove while in The Passat Wagons, so very cheap road trips.

Fly/Drive is not bad either (43.5 mpg over 2800 miles in my last rental car (intermediate sized Kia)
Grand Caravan delivered 32mpg over 1800 miles the week before.

Relocated my FIL 454 gas MH... 4-5 mpg

My Kenworth is not that thirsty @105,500#. and the Mack is very capable of a constant 9 mpg.

So... if you sell your thirsty MH... Don't offer to deliver it! (for free), tho that could be a selling point. (If it does not break down on the way to it's new home... BTDT)

I did deliver my Renegade to a buyer in Delta Junction - for free. They gave me a pre-paid flight from Fairbanks to home
