Why do people seek so much information on C-D about visiting or living in Montreal but not Quebec City?
Visiting - who knows.
Living - Quebec City is still overwhelmingly French -- French is the language most often spoken at home for 96.5% of the population (source - table 11). This being an English-language board, I would assume one explains the other.
- As mentioned above this is an English language board and QC does not have the large anglo minority Montreal does.
- Montreal is a much bigger and more famous city with more casual business travel as well as geographical proximity to major transportation routes that makes casual tourism slightly easier.
- Large cities are magnets for those looking to relocate or travel, small cities much less so.
- I get the impression that similarly sized Canadian cities like Winnipeg and Hamilton actually don't seem to get much more attention on this board then Quebec City does to be perfectly honest.
La ville is, at best, a one or two-day trip after visiting the Biodome, for most posters here.
It's a shame, but a reality. I personally love the city and go many times per year, I would take it over Montreal any day. I'm not sure how much fun you can have beyond the old town if you are unilingual, but it seems tourists would still be able to access much of it.
