What you are really asking is will the Quebec economy and employment suffer if Quebec separates.

True temporarily for the West Island, but I seriously doubt it would have a major effect in the rest of Quebec

That means only someone who is scared or who is trying to be scary will use the word "plummet" and "along with all other aspects of the economy". I am against separation, in part because I believe it would be detrimental to our economy, but the end-of-the-world scenario implied by your reply shows how little you understand about economics.

The Outaouais region where I live, which is right next to Ottawa and very economically intertwined with it, would like be the hardest hit.

I doubt the impact would be significant in most of the rest of Quebec.
